Van Buren Township

Join us for our Community Center Ground Breaking Ceremony

Join us for a public Ground Breaking Ceremony of the Van Buren Township Community Center on Tuesday January 31st 3:00 PM at Van Buren Township Hall, 46425 Tyler Rd, Van Buren Township MI 48111.

The event will be attended by Warren C Evans, Wayne County Executive, members of the Downtown Development Authority, Van Buren Township Board of Trustees members and township staff. The event is open to the public.

The project is a renovation of the current Community Center while adding on an additional 21,763 sq. ft. and is expected to be completed by spring of 2024.

This was made possible through the financial combined efforts of Wayne County,  DDA,  Van Buren Township and Van Buren Civic Fund.

“My team has worked endlessly to identify partnership projects that best align with our vision of creating a healthier, happier, and more sustainable county. To say that I am extremely pleased to be a partner in creating such a multifaceted space for county residents to receive much needed services, would be an understatement,” said Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans. “Not only will the renovated senior and community center provide more opportunities for economic mobility but the inclusiveness of services to be offered will ensure that our communities are healthy physically, financially and mentally.”

“We are proud to be building a space where our community can come together and share in the joys of healthy living, sports, arts and culture”, said Supervisor Kevin McNamara.

The new Community Center will have a gym with an elevated walking track, a Black Box Theater, spaces dedicated to the Senior Center members, group and individual fitness areas, teen spaces and so much more.
