Van Buren Township

Van Buren, Belleville, Sumpter, & Huron Township work together to register Seniors for COVID-19 Vaccination.

Thanks to Wayne County; the City of Belleville, Huron Township, Sumpter Township and Van Buren Township will be able to distribute a limited supply of vaccines to our senior population on Wednesday, March 3rd, 2021 at the Taylor campus of Wayne County Community College. (21000 Northline Rd, Taylor, MI 48180)

Community staff members from each municipality worked together to schedule the first round of vaccines for elderly citizens. The community leadership stated it was important to them to work together, continuing the strong sense of community in this region.

“This is a first step in getting all of our communities access to the vaccine,” said Van Buren Township Supervisor Kevin McNamara, “…While we are grateful to have these vaccines we will not stop working until we get all of our most vulnerable citizens the same access to the vaccine.”

We will continue to collaborate with Wayne County in assisting in a regional effort to administer the vaccine to our senior population, 65 years of age and older. Please register online at “vanburen-mi.org/community/vaccine_registration”. This registration list gives community staff a comprehensive list of our senior community for the vaccines. When you sign up Van Buren staff will call registered citizens of the four communities in order of registration when they have available vaccination appointments from Wayne County.

We are encouraging residents to utilize the website to register to prevent overwhelming the Township phone system. Once you have filled out the form, your name is on the registration list and you will be contacted in order of registration once Wayne County can provide additional vaccine appointments.

If you cannot utilize our website please call any our departments at Township hall and we will be able to help you register; Supervisors 734-699-8910, Clerks: 734-699-8909, Treasurer: 734-699-8903, Seniors: 734-699-8918, Public Services: 734-699-8913(WE WILL BE UNABLE TO RESPOND TO VOICEMAIL)
