In the event of a
fire... |
|
|
|
|
|
Hopefully,
none of us will ever be faced with a situation where we are required to
use a fire extinguisher or fire hose reel. However, in the event of a fire
at home or in the workplace, remembering the following
TIPS
MAY SAVE YOUR LIFE.
-
Once
a fire has been detected, call 911 or activate the closest fire alarm pull
box and evacuate the building immediately. If time permits,
notify supervision.
-
Fire
fighting should be left to the professionals. All fire fighting
equipment should be used as a form of defense in getting to a
safe location.
-
Know
the location of all possible evacuation routes and building
exits in your work area.
-
Know
the location of all fire alarm pull boxes in your area, along
with the closest fire extinguisher station.
-
If
necessary, crawl to escape deadly fumes or possible smoke
inhalation.
-
If
your clothes catch fire,
DO
NOT RUN!
Instead,
STOP
where you are,
DROP
to the ground and
ROLL
over and over to smother the flames.
-
Never
use an elevator during a fire emergency.
