What's Cable TV Van Buren Township Cable VBTV12 is a unique resource that serves our community. For viewing, Comcast subscribers should tune into channel 12 and AT&T U-verse subscribers channel 99. Eight community-oriented programs play each weekday while a scrolling bulletin board runs 24 hours a day (whenever a program is not being shown). Programs run in length anywhere from 15 minutes to two hours, although most programs are 30 to 60 minutes long. Our programming is divided into three categories: VB produced programs, VB live programs, and Non-VB produced programs. Most of our programming is produced in-house. Our staff videotapes many events within the Recreation, Senior, Public Safety, Developmental Services, and Environmental Departments as well as other community events. The “rough footage” of these events is edited into finished programs with sleek graphics and a polished look. We try to have programs completed and playing on the channel one to two weeks following the event. Every first and third Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. the Board of Trustees gather in the board room to conduct Township meetings. These meetings are cablecast live on channel 12 (Comcast) and channel 99 (AT&T) usually lasting until 8:30 or 9:00 p.m. Occasionally, a special meeting is called which is also cablecast live. Some of our programming that is not produced in the township, but is community related, is sent to us from various sources. For example, Detroit Edison has recently sent two 15-minute programs, which have been combined into a 30-minute presentation titled “Detroit Edison Safety Programs.” Other programs include MDOT “Today,” Law Talk, and several environmental and health related programs. |
